The Uniden R7 is a top-of-the-line extreme long-range radar detector. With built-in GPS, you can mark points where you may typically encounter radar alerts. Set alerts to notify you of speed zones, speed traps, construction zones, school zones, and other traffic issues as you approach. Once you mark a point, the R7 will announce “user-mark ahead” as you near the saved geo point. The R7's voice notification lets users know what type of radar it is detecting (speed, red light, etc.)

  • DUAL ANTENNAS AND DIRECTIONAL ARROWS
Allow the R7 to detect threats from all four directions, with arrows displaying the direction of the threat. It even shows the band and signal strength for each.
  • BUILT-IN GPS WITH AUTO MUTE MEMORY
The R7 can remember and automatically mute false alerts (such as retail store door alarms), along your routes so you never have to listen to the same false alert twice.
  • MULTI-COLOR OLED DISPLAY
An easy-to-read display allows for more useful information to be displayed at once, improving your overall situational awareness.
  • VOICE ALERTS
Voice alerts provide clear communication allowing for hands-free operation. Voice alerts are programmable to fit your style so you can keep your eyes on the road with no distractions.
  • ADVANCED K/KA BAND FILTERING
The R7 has the best K/KA Band filtering resulting in fewer false alerts from blind-spot monitoring and collision avoidance systems.
  • RED LIGHT/SPEED CAMERA ALERTS
Pre-loaded Red Light and Speed Camera locations with free database and firmware updates ensures your radar detector will always be up-to-date.

The Uniden R7, what you really need to know.

I'm rating as 1 star so people can actually understand some of the other comments made by others giving it a 1 star review, and actually real experience. In actual fact there is little doubt that the R7 is one of the very best radar detectors ever made. Anything less than 5 stars really shows either a lack of understanding of the product or just some occasional unlucky owners who may have bought a defective product which can be repaired or replaced. Thereby my 1 star rating is set just to grab attention and to put other reviews in some context. As a software developer for the R7 I can say factually the reliability of the R7 is over 99%. Some issues with screen burn can occur over time if using blue colour and/or maximum brightness over a long period. This same issue applies to all the OLED uniden detectors, but is actually fixed with new Auto-Dark mode added uniquely onto the latest R7 160 international firmware. Some other faults can be a failed GPS board. But like a faulty power cable and socket in general is actually pretty rare.Main things to make people aware of:The USB socket on the R7 is for firmware updates and not a power socket. There is no fault with the R7, it is just not designed to power from its USB socket. There are now adaptors to allow USB plugs to power 12b RJ11. Therefore if you need to power the R7 via a USB plug that is how to do it.People often assume it is a police car detector. No, it is a radar detector. Police do not always use radar, they only use radar when they need to acquire a vehicle speed. The R7 is great as it can detect vehicles in front being subject to speed measurement via radar quite a few km ahead. Also people need to be aware that police also use LIDAR to measure speed. LIDAR uses laser and not radar. Laser detection is very difficult and only generally if you are the target vehicle. Providing reliable protection against laser needs different type of hardware which is often very expensive and is often illegal to use.No detection of speed signs.. Not necessarily a sign of a faulty detector. The R7 like many detectors can distinguish different types of radar. It is designed to detect police radar and not information speed signs. Therefore with additional filtering built into the R7 it is not suprising it doesn't detect some speed signs. This is a good thing not a bad thing.False alerts: The R7 has some of the best filtering for false alerts in the industry. There is also third party international firmware available for the R7 this adds even more customisable filtering and better auto GPS false alert lockouts than so far implemented on any other detector by Uniden and/or than any other brand. The GPS lockouts on the escort detectors for instance is so aggressive it can filter our an entire region. This includes active threats you actually need to be aware of. The R7 especially running the international firmware suited for USA/Canada/New Zealand/Finland etc. also provides so many more features and settings, many of which help give more control and reduced false alerts than any other detector.Lack of Wifi/Bluetooth - Yes this is true. However, the Uniden R7 is a better standalone detector than probably anything else on the market. You can also use Apps like Highway Radar and JBV1 in standalone mode so you're not actually missing out on anything. So in short, I own most top end detector including, R3, R4, R7, R8, V1Gen2 and several escort detectors. However, I still use the R7 for daily drive, as the R7 is a high performance, low fuss, minimal false alert detector that suits my needs better than any other detector. I'm also not alone in this opinion. For more information on any of these detectors I suggest people seek further independent advice such as on the RDForum or see Vortex Radar etc.

It already paid itself off in the first week of owning it.if there is a cop running radar it will get it 100% of the time
