We are excited to announce the release of the P25 decoding capability update for the BCD160DN and BCD260DN scanners. This update is available to all existing owners and future purchasers of the BCD160DN and BCD260DN.
How to get the update?
What does the P25 update do for the scanner?
The P25 update enables your scanner to decode APCO P25 digital transmissions that were previously unmonitorable on these models. With this update, the scanner now supports both P25 Phase I and Phase II non-encrypted communications, with some limitations.
While the scanner can receive transmissions from P25 trunked systems, it does not support trunk-tracking and will not track TGIDs (Talk Group ID) or follow calls across frequencies.
However, when the required information is manually entered, the scanner can decode individual P25 Phase I and Phase II digital voice channels.
