Uniden R8 Radar Detector — Extreme Long-Range Protection for Confident Driving

Most amazing product to date-beats python and any other radar detector. I noticed several people complain about needing a cigarette outlet…you have to buy the conversion adapter for the cigarette lighter to the 110outlet plug in folks. USB and usb-c do not produce enough volts. Don’t listen to the 1 star reviews because people can’t understand life. I have had two of these for two cars and I get will save your bacon the r4 and the R8 are what we have and honestly we tested it-the only thing the r8 catches are cops behind you. The r4 which is older without “the long range “catch’s cops at least 2 miles away. They work good.

Took this out on about a 1,000 mile roadtrip and seriously thinking about returning it. While it did ok at detecting actual police radars, it does an absolutely terrible job in reducing false positives. The radar sensor is constantly beeping- it’s the radar sensor that cries wolf. It became so obnoxious in urban and suburban areas that I shut it off. It’s so sensitive that everything sets it off and I don’t trust it. The technology feels like it’s 30 years old and can’t tell the difference between a cop, a gas station automatic door and a bat.
