R8

I am very impressed with how good the filtering is. The R8 is a very quiet detector un regards to false alerts. Incredible range on the Ka band! I wish the form Factor was smaller. The device itself seems big and not pleasing to the eye.

I've had the R7 for a few years and while it always performed great I recently decided to go with the R8. I see zero issues with it and while it seems to be as good as the R7 it also seems to be much quieter or at least it does to me driving the same routes. Also moving the buttons to the front is easier to use while driving.

First things first, the R8 is a very sensitive radar detector. That being said the way that it handles signals that are already stored in the memory bank and should be muted is infuriating. You will get an audio warning, and then it will either immediately say mute memory, or you will go to hit mute, and it will say delete mute memory? Super super annoying. If it is a signal stored in memory then shut the f up. "Oh no we got the signal 50 ft earlier than before, let's bother you with an alert and other auditory commands". If the signal has been stored into memory do not make a noise for it, what else would be the point of storing signals into memory? Just an infuriating radar detector coming from someone who has owned other high-end radar detectors and will likely switch back to the other brand.
