It was easy to program channels wanted.the instructions were easy to follow screen is easy to read
poor quality, does not detect any cops in the city. spend over 2 hours to set it up but still does not work properly. bs
My old detector from many years ago finally died. I assumed that radar detectors had become a thing of the past because of all the false alerts coming from modern vehicles. My old detector had no filtering capabilities. Then I bought the R4. The K-band filtering is amazing. The Ka-band alert distance is crazy long. The re-certified unit that I received looks and performs identical to a brand new unit. The discount is appreciated. The R/tach app makes it a breeze to adjust the amazing array of parameters. Amazing bit of technology that likely paid for itself within the first two days of usage. Bravo..

The other chargers on Amazon won’t charge while on. This one does . I went into the settings with the others and it would not charge while my scanner was on. This one actually works!!!

so far it gas been good, all functions work, this model should have had Bluetooth and software included to operate on Windows computer screen, it should have a clock display when off as an option, of course you have not released anything scanner wise above this and it has been years so this is just "old stock" sold at premium price, there are authorized dealers that would have given a price break, but you failed on all that.
Got to figure outhowto use it but a very nice scanner, I have made one favorite list
Excellent scanner radio. Very well built and seems to be of excellent quality. The scanner performs very well.
Just received it today, so these are my initial impressions. I started out with service search and found that a lot of NXDN transmissions were not decoded automatically, It would be nice if the mode could be set by service. The programming software is less user friendly than any I have ever used before. I'll have to see if RT Systems offers an alternative. Once frequencies were programmec by band, then there was no issue with NXDN. I may need a magnifier to see some of the features of the display, e.g. scanning only particular banks. An alternate antenna is a must.
Started out little rocky but customer support helped me with the software and programing.

I installed it last week, but on a few occasions on the freeway I noticed that it didn't sound when the State Police were nearby.
Only problem it has it struggles picking up short range but other than that it is very good

To date, after my first two weeks, I am very pleased with my purchase. I continue to refer back to the manual as I learn the capabilities of the 4w. My last RD died after 20 years of use, The features on this 4w are so far above what I was using.
